Both schools within LWF are officially ‘Healthy School’ and we encourage students to eat a healthy breakfast and lunch.
Breakfast Club is available from 8.45 to 9.20am at the cost of 50p per day. It consists of either a portion of toast (2 slices), 2 margarine and 2 jams or a choice of cereals with milk.
Lunch consists of two-courses (main course and dessert). As part of our life skills programme all students eat their lunch, whether school provided or pack up, where possible in the dining room; adhering to table etiquette and good manners, supported by school staff. All our catering staff are trained to very high standards and therefore we are very proud of the exceptional quality of our lunches and our ability to cater for any dietary requirements.
We actively seek to purchase our fresh goods locally and prepare the food in-house, using seasonal fruit and vegetables as we strive to keep our costs as low as possible, all without compromising on the high quality we have come to expect of our school lunches.
The school lunch menu, which we operate on a three-weekly rotating basis are sent out via Parentmail every fortnight for completion. Please click the examle menu below for the most recent menu, tick the meal your child would like on those days and send back to school.
Please note, however, it is only an indication of what will be served on any day, as sometimes it is necessary to alter the menu at short notice due to circumstances beyond our control. Students are able to see a menu board each day which shows them what is on the menu for that day. Students are able to choose between a hot meal / vegetarian or salad each day and desserts vary from hot puddings, fresh fruit salad or a choice of desserts from the chiller, including yoghurts, jelly…fresh fruit and drinking water is always available in the dining room.
Should you have any questions or comments about the catering provision at this school, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Paying for school meals:
For security and ease of administration it would be preferable to use ParentMail to pay online. Please contact the school directly to arrange support to sign up if required. If you choose to use an alternative method then a weekly cheque made payable to Lincolnshire Wolds Community Trust is preferable. We prefer not to handle cash within school, please contact the finance department if you have any issues with not paying by cash.
The current cost of a school lunch is £2.30 per day or £11.50 per week. Any increase in this amount will be advised to you in a letter by the Head of school. Should your child be absent during the week, the cost of the missed lunch(es) will be carried forward as a credit to the following week. Parents will be advised by telephone or notice of amounts owing.
If there is an arrangement for cash payments all dinner monies should be handed (preferably in a school money envelope avaialble from reception) to the Class Teacher by the student at morning registration. If you have any concerns about allowing your child to bring money into school, then please speak to the Escort on the transport and they will hand the money over to a member of the school staff when they arrive at school each morning.
Upon receipt in the school office, the money envelope will be opened and the amount enclosed agreed with the amount shown on the envelope and the paperwork received from the Class Teacher. The bottom portion of the envelope will be stamped and returned to you as a receipt, showing the money you have sent into school together with any change due. This receipt will come back to your child the following day.
Students are expected to pay for their school lunch unless they are eligible for free school meals.
Research shows that pupils are more likely to concentrate in lessons if they have eaten a nutritionally balanced meal at lunchtime.
In order to qualify for free school meals you must be in receipt of one of the following benefits:
- Income Support
- Income based Jobseeker's Allowance
- Income related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The Guarantee element of State pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit, provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual household income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) that does not exceed £16,190 (as of April 2012)
- Universal Credit
Parent/Carers are required to apply themselves online via Lincolnshire County Council's Parent Portal. For guidance on how to fill in the application click here.
Doing this could save you approximately £450 on packed lunches each year and also release extra funds for school.
