Leadership Team

Lea Mason Hello, my name is Leanda (or Lea for short) Mason and I had the privilege of being a Governor and Headteacher of St Bernard’s School from 2009 and then held the position of Governor and Executive Head Teacher of The Lincolnshire Wolds Federation, with St Lawrence School from September 2012. In both roles I have enjoyed the support and challenge of very active Governing bodies, as well as my husband and two children.

I have always worked within SEND and have previously held various leadership positions within specialist schools, for young people with moderate, severe, profound and complex needs in Lincolnshire, and worked as a consultant for the specialist schools trust in supporting schools to develop provision for youngsters with Autism and complex needs, including multi-sensory impairments.

My role as Chief Executive of the Lincolnshire Wolds Community Trust, sits alongside and compliments my role as Executive Head for LWF. The positions support me in my working closely with the Local Authority and the Local Community, as well as parents and other settings, to build on educational opportunities and ensuring that LWCT continues to provide outstanding education and support for all of its students, in any setting. As national support schools, our staff, along with myself as a national leader, also support other schools, in line with our vision in developing and building on the strength of the locality offer.

As a qualified coach I am passionate about staff and student wellbeing and strive for these practices to be part of our everyday offer for all.

I have a passionate drive for ensuring all of our students, alongside our dedicated staff team, are afforded the opportunities to achieve their aspirations and potential, as well as providing an environment that supports all within the LWCT community to aspire and achieve.

Michelle Hockham - My name is Michelle Hockham, I qualified as a teacher in 1996.  Since then I have worked in an array of settings including mainstream primary, secondary, further education as well as SEN.  I have worked at LWF since 2006, based at St Lawrence School.  I have had the pleasure of teaching across all age ranges and abilities within the Federation, however my specialism is in English and ICT.

In my current role as Head of School, I am in responsible for the day to day management of the school and supporting the development and direction of our Curriculum across the Federation. I also monitor progress and attainment to measure achievements and success.

I have a passion for improving the provision and education offered to young people with additional needs and in particular providing a curriculum that addresses the whole child not just the academic progress.  I am a strong believer in offering our students valuable ‘real’ experiences to support their learning and development to enable them to be the best they can be and be as independent as possible in adult life.

Tonya Stokes - Hello, my name is Tonya Stokes. I have worked in education for over 20 years, beginning my career as a primary school teacher.

My passion for supporting young people with additional needs led me to St Bernard’s in 2005. Whilst teaching at St Bernard’s I have supported a wide range of students and staff from across the school. These experiences have enabled me to be in a position to drive curriculum and assessment initiatives to enhance our offer.

I am passionate about ensuring that each and every student is as prepared as they can be for their future steps into adulthood.

In my role as Head of School my vision is to develop an outstanding school which demonstrates outstanding provision for all students, supporting staff and student wellbeing, a happy place where all want to learn and be the best they can be.

Kim Jacklin - My name is Kim and I joined Lincolnshire Wolds Federation in March 2015 and became Finance & Business Director upon our conversion to a Multi Academy Trust. It is a role that continues to grow and develop as wider education policy changes. I hold a DSBM (Diploma of School Business Management) from the Institute of Business Management and the National College of Teaching & Leadership. I am responsible for all Financial and Business matters across LWCT.

My passion for education is very genuine and I have worked in varying roles in education over the last 10 years; from Science Technician , Pastoral Care and HR & Business Management in a mainstream Secondary Academy to Clerk to Governors of a Special School. I am proud to say that I have worked with and for students across all aspects of their educational journey to ensure it is the best it can be.

Kay Smith - I joined Lincolnshire Wolds Federation in March 2015 and have already experienced a fast journey of change in a short space of time.

Since the Federation converted to Academy status in September 2015, my initial role as HR Administrator has grown and changed beyond recognition.

I am now HR and Facilities Lead across the Federation and hope, in the future, as the Lincolnshire Wolds Community Trust grows and we welcome more schools under our wing, to develop my role further to become responsible for those functions for the Trust.

I have over 10 years’ experience in HR roles following a change of direction when I was made redundant from a previous role.  In that time I have become an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), gaining a Level 5 qualification through personal studies.  In time, I plan to extend that learning to gain my Master’s Degree in HR & Employment Law sometime in the future.

Being part of the Federation brings a wide variety to my work along with challenges which provide a level of interest that I feel is important to achieving a level of work and personal satisfaction.
