Welcome to 4PE.
We are a mixed class of Year 10 and 11 students. We will be focussing on Maths and English in the morning sessions. After break and in the afternoons the students will be studying different activities. They will follow 4 different areas of study over the week and continue this over the year. There are a variety of study areas such as Sport, Animal care, Travel Training, Cooking, Horticulture, History, Art Outdoor Education and Construction to name but a few! These study areas will take place with other students across the key stage so the students will get used to working with other students and staff which will help them when they come to leave St Lawrence School at the end of Year 11. The students of 4PE will also have taught sessions as a class group such as Science, PSHE, PE and Enterprise. In these Enterprise sessions, the students will aim to make objects to then sell at open afternoons in school.
There will be a big focus on students acquiring independent skills through all they do in school, whether this is getting their own breakfast and clearing away or taking on roles and responsibilities around the classroom. Our students learn well in practical sessions so there will be an emphasis placed on students learning through a practical, hands-on approach.
Please see the photos attached which give you an early flavour of some of the things we have been doing so far this year.
